The Tigers were delighted to be part of the promotion of Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Program. On Saturday, Nov. 24th, working in shifts, the players manned the promotion table, accepted donations, handed out Jumpstart items, explained the Jumpstart Program to customers and posed for photo-ops with fans.
In 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities was launched to address an issue of national concern; the inactivity of kids. National in scope, but local in its focus, Jumpstart helps kids in financial need participate in organized sports and physical activities by assisting with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation. The Restigouche Chapter, now headed by Pierre Girard of the Atholville store, has, since the beginning of the program, disbursed $226,390 and helped 1299 kids get involved in sports. In 2017 alone, they have helped 100 kids from the local region participate in soccer, hockey, dance, gymnastics and swimming.
